Conductor’s Stool
This birch stool is a replica of those used by train conductors. The slit in the lid allows for easy carrying while the hinged compartment provides for ample storage. Tools used to create this stool include the drill press, jointer, band saw, table saw, miter saw, belt sander, disc sander, oscillating spindle sander, and router.
Triangle Statue
The Triangle Statue’s challenge was to create a composition of nine prisms of unique sizes, each connected only along flush sides. My goal was to ensure that the piece was visually intriguing from all angles. The most exciting moment of this project was when I was finally successful in designing the structure to stand unsupported.
Popsicle Playground
The prompt for this piece was to create an object using only glue and layered popsicle sticks. I was inspired by a wooden castle playground I played on as a child. Its levels were fun to crawl in, over, and under — a memory I incorporated into this design. I wanted to create a piece where every time the viewer turned it, they might discover something they hadn’t noticed before.
